When I saw Beyonce with her short hair, I had to think twice about who it was.  I don’t ever remember seeing her with short hair.  Photo from Wonderwall.  When you think about Miley Cyrus and Rihanna you have to wonder if the new look was inspired by them.  Then again, she did have that fiasco with her hair getting caught in a fan during a performance.  Why was she sitting that close to it again?  Perhaps that was the contributing factor to her hacking off her hair.  It’s likely we will never know what was behind that decision.

How does she look with this hair style?  I’m not quite sure as to how I feel about it.  Not everybody can wear this look and get away with it.  Not saying that she looks horrible in it, I’m just saying I’m not sure how I feel about it.  Do I prefer her with long hair?  Honestly and in a nutshell, yes I do.  It is what makes up who she is.  The short hair is just so out of the ordinary that it is taking a lot of people by surprise to the fact that TMZ and Dish Nation had their run of the mill of it.

The hair style is not anything we haven’t seen before, nor does it give me that “WOW” factor.  To me it’s just “Oh, another celebrity has hacked off their hair.”  It is a different look probably even by Beyonce’s standards, and it is probably receiving some mixed feelings.

I will say this, she is among many celebrities who have made the decision to cut their hair extremely short.  Remember Angela Basset?  She sports her short hair look and wears it rather well — and looks good wearing it at her age.  And, of course, let’s not forget the fabulous Halle Berry whom we all know is notorious for the short hair look.  So why did the media get all extra’ed-out over Beyonce going with a short hair cut?  Like I said, it’s different and probably even by her own standards.

I want to see how she performs on stage with the new hair do — how her fans will receive going forward, and if whether or not this is a look that will be sticking around long-term or just hanging around the hype and publicity.  Who is to know for sure?
